Tipping is one of those things that seems to cause some travellers a lot of concerns, wondering how the "rules" in their own country should be applied in another. South Africa is no different.

Our rule is it's up to you, particularly if you have had exceptional service! But here is some general guidance.
Guided Safari
R150-250 per guide
Safari Tracker
R100-200 per tracker
Service Station Attendants
R5-20 depending on how many extras they do (if paying by card the total will often be just under a round hundred figure!)
Tour drivers/Guides
R100-200 per person
Parking Attendants/Car Guards
R2-5 for a short stop
R5-10 for longer periods
They should be actively watching, not just lurking, and will normally have a fluorescent tabard
Restaurants
10-15%
Hotel Porters
R 10-20 per bag
Housekeepers
R 50-100 per day
Spa Therapists
10–15%
