This is a relatively small boutique style hotel in Tulbagh, that town being the scene of an earthquake in 1969 that caused a fair amount of damage.

It's only an hour and a half from Cape Town so probably manageable for a first night stay after an overnight flight, or else for a short journey stopover heading north. You could even fit it into a journey east without using up too much time.

As the name suggests it started focused on wine grapes but in 2018 the estate renovated the guesthouse buildings. They offer as few options and all the rooms are very comfortable.

The grounds are lovely with the vineyards very close to the rooms and some other areas planted. There is also an eco-pool available if you fancy a dip. Mountains surround the estate and the skies are good for some impromptu star gazing at night.

A great breakfast, with plenty of choice, is on offer and they also do evening meals if required.

The whole place has a very relaxed feel with clear professionalism at the heart of the operation, allowing guests to take it easy.
